MCA | My Care Aide (“MCA”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to creating a safe, reliable, and transparent environment for families and caregivers across Vancouver Island. This Safety & Trust Policy outlines the standards, verification processes, and expectations that support the integrity of our platform.
1. Our Commitment to Safety
Safety is the foundation of MCA. We prioritize trust, transparency, and accountability in every connection made through our platform. Families rely on us to provide access to verified caregivers, and caregivers trust us to maintain a professional, secure environment.
2. Caregiver Verification Process
All caregivers listed on MCA must complete a verification process before their profile becomes active. This process may include:
- Identity Verification Caregivers must provide valid government‑issued identification to confirm their identity.
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) Caregivers must submit a current criminal record check to ensure they meet safety standards.
- Certification Review Caregivers may provide proof of relevant training, education, or professional credentials.
- Profile Accuracy Caregivers are responsible for ensuring their profile information is truthful, up‑to‑date, and reflective of their skills and experience.
Verification helps support safety but does not replace a family’s responsibility to assess whether a caregiver is the right fit for their needs.
3. Independent Caregivers
Caregivers on MCA operate independently. They are not employees of MCA. Each caregiver is responsible for their conduct, communication, availability, and service delivery. Families should discuss expectations, schedules, and care needs directly with caregivers before booking services.
4. Family Responsibilities
Families play an important role in maintaining a safe environment. Families agree to:
- Communicate respectfully and clearly
- Provide accurate care needs
- Ensure the care environment is safe
- Review caregiver profiles carefully
- Ask questions and confirm suitability before booking
Families should perform their own due diligence in addition to MCA’s verification process.
5. Safe Communication
All communication between families and caregivers should remain professional, respectful, and appropriate. MCA may monitor platform activity to ensure compliance with safety standards and may remove accounts that violate these expectations.
6. Reporting Concerns
If a family or caregiver experiences unsafe behavior, misconduct, or a violation of MCA’s standards, they should report it immediately to support@mycareaide.ca. MCA will review the concern and take appropriate action, which may include account suspension or removal.
7. Limitations of Safety Measures
While MCA takes reasonable steps to verify caregivers and maintain a safe platform, no system can guarantee complete safety. Families should always use their own judgment when selecting a caregiver. MCA is not responsible for the actions, omissions, or performance of independent caregivers.
8. Updates to This Policy
MCA may update this Safety & Trust Policy as needed to reflect changes in our practices or safety standards. The “Effective Date” will indicate the most recent revision.
